Forming the Team
:

The way that your team is formed will play a large role in how well your team plays.   You will need a good combination of flag carrier, healers, and dps.

The Flag Carrier:

It is imperative that your team assign one player to be the flag carrier.  Although you can have, and should have, other players assisting to carry the flag (i.e. if your team needs to pick up the flag and your FC isn't near), you should still have one player designated to this duty.

Ideally, your tank will be a plate-wearing player or a feral/tank druid.  Flag carriers can be warriors, death knights, paladins, or druids.  Each of these classes has its benefits so it is a personal preference for what you believe would be best for your team.  The flag carrier needs to be able to withstand a lot of damage.

The flag carrier's main duty is to run the flag and protect it until they are able to capture it.  The flag carrier should not engage in combat unless absolutely necessary.

The Healers:

The healer's main duty in Twin Peaks is to keep the flag carrier alive.  The healers will want to keep their other teammates alive and healed as much as possible but the flag carrier is the top priority.

The ideal number of healers to have for Twin Peaks is 3-4 depending on your team makeup and the tactic you decide to use.  Two healers might be too little and more than 4 would probably be too much.

Your team needs to have at least one healer with your flag carrier at all times.  There should usually be 1-2 healers running with the FC to get the flag while 1-2 healers stay with the rest of the team.  Once the FC is safe inside of your base, more healers (and/or possibly a dps) would join them.  The offensive team will usually have 0-2 healers with them while the FC will have 1-4 healers guarding at one time.

The DPS:

Your DPS includes everyone but your FC and healers.  The mixture of classes on your team will differ slightly depending on your strat and how easy it is for your team to find players, among other reasons.  However, it is usually best to have a variety of classes so your team can benefit from a variety of spells and abilities as well as crowd controls.  Some classes' crowd control abilities share diminishing returns which means they do not last their full duration when used more than once within a certain amount of time.  It is also good to have a mixture of ranged dps and melee dps.

Flag Carrier Debuffs:

One thing you will need to keep an eye on are the debuffs that the flag carriers get.  As long as the FC has the flag in their possession they will continue to acquire stacks of the debuff.  The debuff stacks from 1-10 with each stack multiplying the damage taken by 10%.

It is important to watch this debuff because the higher the stacks get, the more damage the flag carriers will take.

Strategy #1:

Alliance:
The flag carrier and one healer (the defensive team) will leave the base from the gate on the west.  The rest of the team (the offensive team) will leave from the gate on the east.

The offensive team will run towards the middle of the map but not cross the river or the bridge.  One player with good dps should pick up the berserker buff in the east side hut.  The flag carrier and healer(s) will travel along the west of the map, away from the rest of the team.  The flag carrier should wait until the offensive team is visible in the middle before running further, just in case players need to break off and assist the flag carrier across the map.  It is important to keep your flag carrier away from enemy players as much as possible.

Twin Peaks Alliance Strategy
Alliance Strategy #1

If your offensive team gets a visual on the enemy flag carrier, attempt to go after them as soon as possible.  Keep communication open - call out targets always and CC's as much as possible.   The goal at the beginning of the match is to essentially wipe out as many enemy players as possible while getting the enemy flag to your base.

Leave at least one healer with your FC, although it's good to leave as many healers as possible and even a dps (if your team can afford it) to stay on "D" (defense) until your team captures the flag.

The majority of your team will want to be on offense as often as possible.  You might find there are times when you need your entire team to defend your FC, such as when the enemy teams sends a large number of players to attack.  Whenever the enemy's offense if wiped out, or close to being wiped out by your team, send your offensive team to attack while the enemy team is resurrecting.  You can even leave some players alive for slightly longer to prevent the entire team from resurrecting at the same time.

When your offensive team goes after the enemy FC (and your FC is guarded) determine whether you will be focusing solely on the enemy FC or their other players.  This will largely depend on how many debuff stacks the FCs have.  If the number is high, your offensive team can attempt to focus the FC while CCing healers when possible.  Use heroism or Time Warp if you have it and burn the FC.  If the FCs do not have a lot of stacks and will not die quickly, choose targets to focus and targets to CC until you kill enough enemies that you can focus the FC.

Remember that protecting your FC is usually more important than going after the enemy FC.  If the flag carrier ever drops the flag, attempt to have someone near enough to be ready to pick it up if it's returned.

Extra tips: Keep grouped up as much as possible; defending your FC is more important than attacking the enemy FC, unless you will lose otherwise and you have no other option; call focus targets; try to have someone prepared to pick up the enemy flag in the case that your FC drops it.

Horde:
Your entire team will leave from the gate on the east, not the water side.  Your flag carrier and their healer(s) will travel along the far east side, once your offensive team gets slightly ahead.   Your offensive team will attempt to fight the alliance in the middle of the map and attempt to wipe them out.  If your flag carrier is spotted and gets attacked, try to have a player or two run over to assist them across until they are in the clear.  If your team gets a visual of the enemy FC, attempt to go after them or slow them down.  Some teams leave a designated player to constantly attack the enemy FC.  This is usually a rogue.

Twin Peaks Horde Strategy
Horde Strategy #1

Try to wipe out the alliance in the middle of the field and make sure that your FC gets back to your base safely.  Leave at least one healer with your FC.  It is usually best to leave more than one healer with your FC and even a dps to ensure they remain safe.  If the enemy team sends a full on attack you may need more (even your whole team) to defend temporarily.

Never do an offensive attack on the enemy flag carrier unless you know your FC is safe.  If the enemy team is almost at your base, for instance, don't all leave to go attack their FC because it will take you longer to get there than it will for the enemy to kill your FC.

Once your FC is relatively safe or the enemy's offensive team is pretty much wiped out, send your offensive team after their FC.

If the debuff stacks on the FC are high enough your offensive team may want to just focus and burn them down instead of going through each of the healers or dps that are defending with him.  If the stacks are still pretty low, call out your targets to kill and CC the others.  Try to wipe them out enough to allow your team to kill the FC without them being healed or your team wiping before he goes down.

Extra tips: Keep grouped up as much as possible; defending your FC is more important than attacking the enemy FC, unless you will lose otherwise and you have no other option; call focus targets; try to have someone prepared to pick up the enemy flag in the case that your FC drops it.
