Warsong Gulch Basics
:

General Info: A Warsong Gulch battle can have a maximum of 10 players per side.  There is a minimum number of 5 players needed per side or the game will end within 5 minutes.  You can enter Warsong Gulch at level 10.  Each battle will last a maximum of 20 minutes.

Objective: To be the first team that captures 3 flags, or the team that comes closest to capturing 3 flags before the time runs out.  If each team captures the same number of flags before time runs out, the last team to have made a capture is the winner.

How to Win Warsong Gulch:

As Warsong Gulch is a capture-the-flag themed battleground, the way to win is by capturing the flag.  Your team will want to capture the enemy's flag as many times as possible up to 3 times, while defending their own flag.

Flags:

There are 2 flags in Warsong Gulch- the horde flag and the alliance flag.  Each team's flag is located in the flag room of their base.  The flag room is the room where each player is confined at the beginning of a match.

If you are in control of the flag and you either mount, stealth, go invisible, or shape-shift while in control of the flag you will drop it.  The flag will be dropped right where you are standing and is clickable by players from either side.  If the enemy clicks the flag, it will be returned to their base, if a friendly player clicks the flag, they will pick it up.  You will not be able to pick up the flag yourself for 3 seconds after you drop it.

You can only capture the flag if the enemy does not have your flag in their possession.  If both flags are being held, the flag carriers will become vulnerable and take 50% damage after 10 minutes of holding the flags.  Your team should try to ensure that your team's flag carrier is protected while your team attempts to go after the enemy to return your flag.

Graveyards:

There are 2 graveyards in Warsong Gulch - the horde graveyard and the alliance graveyard.  The horde's graveyard is at the horde base and the alliance graveyard is at the alliance base.  Each is situated on the second level (the same level as the flag room).  The graveyard is found just outside of the flag room's upper doorway and to the right.

There is a 30 second resurrection timer at each of the graveyards.  If several players die within a close period of time, they would all resurrect at the same time.   The resurrection time is not 30 seconds per player, unless you miss the current timer, then it will start over.

It is good to know the area around each of the graveyards.  You may be asked to run there, for instance, if you are carrying the flag and enemies are attempting to kill you.  As well, some team's often find themselves camped at the graveyard.  This is when one team attempts to keep players on the other team at their graveyard by repeatedly killing them.  If you are being camped at your graveyard, you can choose to move away slightly so that you do not resurrect until it is safe.  If you move away from the graveyard the resurrection timer will stop and you will not resurrect unless you move back towards the graveyard.

Routes:

The goal in WSG is to take the enemy's flag from their base to yours, or from one side of the map to the other.  Although the flag carrier may be traveling in a general direction, there are several routes in which the flag carrier can take to either get to the enemy base to get the flag, or back to their own base to capture the flag.

There are three main ways to cross Warsong Gulch to get to the other side or the other base.  You can run straight down the middle, along the far right, or a long the far left.  Zigzagging across the field can waste time and put the flag carrier in danger.  Taking one specific route is best unless it is necessary to run in a different direction, such as when you see yourself being cornered by the enemy.  Once a player is at either base, there are 3 entrances that lead into the base.  You will often hear players saying to "take the ramp" or "take the tunnel."

Ramp Entrance at the Alliance Base.

Taking the ramp leads to two entrances side by side.

The tunnel leads directly to the flag room as well as to a doorway that leads to the roof of the flag room.

Warsong Gulch Buffs:

There are 3 types of buffs that you can get in WSG, similar to other battlegrounds:

the restoration buff increases health and mana.

the berserking buff increases damage dealt by 30%, damage
taken  by 10%, and slightly increases your size for 1 minute

the speed buff increases your speed by 100% for 10 seconds

Each of these buffs spawn randomly in the 4 huts located in the field.  There are 2 located near the horde base and 2 located near the alliance base.  To pick up the buff, simply run over it.  The buffs can be picked up by one person only.  There are 2 additional speed buffs, one located in each tunnel.
